Memorial Day Fun

We had a wonderful Memorial Day visit with Grandpa Tom and great Grandpa Wilberding. We enjoyed hot dogs at the country club grill, swimming with Daddy, and topped off the afternoon with strawberry ice cream cones! Mer is glad that summer is here!

Rained In

We had a relaxing weekend, but it rained both Saturday and Sunday. We made the most of the inclement weather; Mer was excited to wear her new rain boots to Meijer. We bought a My Little Pony (she has been asking for one for days) and made chocolate chip cookies. Mer said they were, "yummy, yummy."

Metro Beach - Mother's Day

Mer immediately recognized Metro Beach by exclaiming, "Nannie and Grandpa Tom like this park!" She spent the afternoon chasing red-wing blackbirds, picking dandelions, and watching the boats. We had a great Mother's Day.

Mother's Day Ice Cream

We made a special trip to Baskin Robbins' before hitting Metro Beach this afternoon for Mother's Day. Mer picked out strawberry, and she may have found her new favorite flavor. And yes, she ate the ENTIRE cone herself, without any help from Mommy or Daddy.

Toledo Zoo #2

There was a special section of the Zoo for toddlers, which Mer really enjoyed. There were playful animal masks, but her favorite activity was playing in the river section. This area was set up with lots of rocks and sticks to encourage children to build and then deconstruct dams. Naturally, she gravitated to this area as it combined her favorite things: rocks + rivers = throwing rocks in the river.

Fun Day at the Toledo Zoo

We had a wonderful time yesterday at the Toledo Zoo. This zoo has so many great exhibits allowing visitors to get very close to the animals. Mer also loved the bronze animal statues found around the park.

Paint Creek Hike

Yesterday we drove to drove to downtown Rochester Hills and took a little walk on the Paint Creek trail. Mer was absolutely thrilled to "trow rocks in the ribber, like Grandpa Tom." She hasn't forgotten how much fun we had at Metro Beach two months ago throwing rocks in Lake St. Clair.
