Willy Wonka

Mer enjoyed participating in Breton Downs production of Willy Wonka, Jr - very similar to the plot of the Gene Wilder movie of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" aka Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."  She starred as one of the "Candy Man Kids" in the second grade chorus.  There were 205 kids from her elementary school that participated in this play - three performances!  Well done.  We celebrated afterwards by enjoying the first Jersey Junction cone of the spring / summer season.

Circus

Two weeks ago, we went to the Shrine Circus in Grand Rapids.  Wow, what a show!  The kids really enjoyed the acrobats, animals, face painting (Mer is a panda), light sabers, popcorn, and all of the fun the circus had to offer.

Spring (?) Weekend

60 degrees in February?!  And sunny??! We'll take it!  It was fun to spend both Saturday and Sunday outside - visiting Meijer Gardens, parks, and riding bikes.

Valentine's Day

Mer and Sean enjoyed attending the Sweetheart Dance (Daddy / Daughter Dance) on Saturday night.  They went out to dinner with friends and then went to the middle school for dancing and crafts.  Charlie and I built a Lego construction site set.  He followed the "constructions" by himself and built the entire set with minimal assistance.  He loves Legos.

Ice Skating & Puppy Bowl

We went ice skating yesterday afternoon in Grand Rapids.  Mer loves skating, but Charlie was a bit hesitant to try a new winter sport...and did not want us taking pictures while he contemplated the new winter sport.  Then we went home to enjoy a hot dog dinner (one of the kids' favorite meals) before turning on the Puppy Bowl.  Mer and Lily liked the Bowl Game a lot, but Charlie opted for a cartoon in bed.  Fun Sunday!
